Restoration, annex design and implementation
Commissioned by Ocak Family

This project was centered on the repair, protection and expansion project of the stone house belonging to the Ocak family, located on the Yürük Plateau of Giresun on the Black Sea Coast of Turkey. The existing building built by grandfather Ali’s hands is a masonry structure without windows, all built with collected stones. The roof is a wooden structure gable roof and the level of the eaves was around 1.4m. The plan and the roof of the building have been extended keeping the width the same, and the roof eaves level has been raised to 2.1. The walls of the newly added space were again built without windows but with skylights. Read Alp Tekin Ocak’s text on the design and construction process below in Turkish.
