TWIN PINES HOUSE, 2017

Commissioned by Nirva & Alen Mevlat, 2016
Hacıaslanlar Village, Edremit

Twin Pines House is situated within a farm at the skirts of Ida Mountains. Settled between existing olive and pine trees and facing a monumental twin pine tree, it is designed as the primary residence of an environmentalist and teacher couple. It has a total area of 45m2. The house was constructed with pumice blocks and wood, by the users of the building and a skilled carpenter. For  the construction process, we worked on a very detailed three-dimensional model and taught the clients the basics of the program for measuring. Thus, they were able to gather information on the materials, size and details replacing the construction drawings-contactor model with an alternative building process. The project is one of our experiments on alternative building processes developing on the vernacular, the affordable and the earth-friendly.
